Growth Kitchen enters into long-term partnership with Tortilla to expand delivery operations

The partnership moves the Mexican restaurant chain closer to the most high-demand delivery postcodes across the UK.

London, April 5th 2022 — Growth Kitchen, the food-tech startup building smart satellite kitchen networks, today announces that it has entered into a partnership with the UK’s leading fast-casual Mexican restaurant brand, Tortilla.

The partnership, which will support the opening of multiple delivery kitchens in the coming years following the success of Tortilla’s Growth Kitchen hub in Balham, showcases the success of the business and partnership model, alongside the clear growing appetite for the Tortilla brand in London and across the UK.

The partnership provides further opportunity for Tortilla — as with other Growth Kitchen partners — to continue its expansion into new delivery kitchens, going beyond traditional high street revenue streams and incremental delivery gains. This is in line with the brand’s strategy to capitalise on the delivery-supportive nature of its products, which supported its resilience and strong performance over the last two years despite the pandemic.

“It’s crucial in today’s market of convenience for restaurants to embrace delivery as a new, growing revenue stream as opposed to just seeing it as an added service and we’re thrilled that Tortilla shares this vision with us,” said Máté Kun, co-founder of Growth Kitchen. “Without the right technology in place to steer growth in the right postcodes, it can be risky for restaurants who don’t want to cannibalise sales at their brick and mortar sites. We have helped Tortilla overcome this challenge, and the success we have shared at our Balham hub is allowing us to work together to increase the density of sites in markets where they already have a strong presence, as well as new areas.”

“We’re delighted to be partnering with Growth Kitchen, as we continue to find more innovative ways of getting our quality product to our customers as quickly as possible. Growth Kitchen works extremely well both commercially and operationally and our team love working at the hubs. We can prioritise the cooking and Growth Kitchen handles the rest,” said Andy Naylor, CFO and Commercial Director at Tortilla. “It’s a great way for us to continue to grow our business, testing new areas while increasing our density in existing markets. In collaboration with the team, we will be able to use multiple data sources to analyse, identify and select a pipeline of potential additional areas that will help drive the expansion of our hubs throughout the UK, and we’re looking forward to seeing where the partnership takes us in the coming years.”
